The Plot of This Is Christmas
Sometimes friends come from the most unexpected of places. Adam, the head of an advertising agency who finds himself taking the same train from the Langton countryside to bustling London every day, learns this lesson through his journey with the people he sees during his commute. During his daily train rides, Adam sees the same cast of characters each and every day. However, no one takes the time to get to know one another, leaving the group as strangers despite being in such close vicinity time and time again.
This all changes when the train breaks down in the countryside one day. Adam decides that now is his opportunity to finally break the ice. He goes around and tells all of the passengers that he thinks they should throw a Christmas party to get to know one another. The other passengers are initially skeptical but eventually agree to the idea of beginning to develop friendships with the people they ride the train with each day.
Of course, as most Christmas movies do, there is a central love story in This Is Christmas. Adam finds himself falling for another passenger on the train. Emma, his love interest, is a chef who finds herself about to move all the way to Chicago with her boyfriend. Adam must navigate how to win over her heart, when it already seems to belong to someone else and be on the move across the world.
This Is Christmas Cast
The optimistic Adam is portrayed by British-Brazilian actor, Alfred Enoch. Enoch has a stellar acting resume, having worked on huge projects. Some of which include Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, How to Get Away with Murder, and Executive Order.
He speaks highly of this project saying that it is “a film that embraces a sense of community, which maybe we don’t always buy into collectively. But, it presents a vision of what can happen if we do.” He goes on to say that he does relate to his character, Adam, saying that he is “that person who sits on the ‘choo’ watching other people. Going, that's interesting, I wonder what they’re doing.” Seems like this was a casting match made in heaven!
His love interest in the film, Emma, is portrayed by Kaya Scoldelario. Scodelario is also no stranger to the acting game. She has worked on massive projects, including Skins, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and The Maze Runner.
