Streamwood Resident, Age 35, Killed in Hit-and-Run Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crime on Lake Street Bartlett

Bartlett Police Department responded about 7:10 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the the area of Lake Street and Valley Lane in Bartlett.  The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where he died as a result of the injuries that he sustained from the motor vehicle crash.




According to witnesses, a 35-year-old male from Streamwood, Illinois was running across the street when he was struck by a vehicle, and then by a second vehicle. Both vehicles were headed westbound on Lake Street. Neither driver stopped to render aid.  

Investigators believe one of the vehicles is red in color and the other vehicle is possibly a dark colored, four-door 2015-2022 Chevrolet Trax or a GMC Terrain vehicle.  Investigators also recovered vehicle parts including front tire wheel trim, broken headlamp pieces, and a rubber portion of a windshield wiper that are believed to be from the Chevrolet Trax or a GMC Terrain vehicle.

Lake Street was closed between Oak Avenue and Park Boulevard for approximately three hours while Bartlett Police Department investigated the motor vehicle crash. Major Case Assistance Team – Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) personnel were assigned to the scene to provide technical assistance for the Bartlett police investigators.

The motor vehicle crash is still under investigation.

Police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 7:08 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Lake Street near Valley Lane in Bartlett.

Police and paramedics received a report that a Good Samaritan was performing CPR for a victim down after being hit by at least one vehicle. The incident was initially being investigated as a hit-and-run, and police were initially looking for a vehicle with front-end damage or right-side (passenger side) damage traveling westbound from the scene.

Lake Street (US-20) was shut down between Park Avenue and Oak Avenue in the Bartlett and Streamwood area.

Major Case Assistance Team – Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) personnel were assigned to the scene to assist Bartlett police investigators at the crash scene.
