Have you always wanted to make your own chocolate but never got around to it? Well, you’re in luck! @myhealthydish on TikTok shared her experience making homemade chocolate from a cacao pod and the results are every chocolate lovers dream!

Here’s how to transform a cacao pod into chocolate!

  • Start by cutting open the cacao pod with a sharp knife and removing the beans.
  • The beans need to be fermented in order to get that chocolate flavor that we all love. To do this, simply place them in a container covered with a towel and allow them to ferment for 7 days.
  • Now it’s time to roast the beans in the oven and peel off the outer shell.
  • Once the outer shell is removed from the beans, you will need to grind up the cacao nibs into a fine powder. A food processor will work the best for this step.
  • Now it’s time to customize your chocolate! Add 1 cup of sugar, or as much as you’d like depending on your preferences. You’ll need to blend the cacao nibs 4 or 5 times in the food processor until you get a nice, creamy consistency. You have just made dark chocolate from scratch!
  • To make milk chocolate, just add milk powder of your choice and blend once more.
  • You can enjoy your chocolate as is or pour it into a chocolate bar mold and allow it to cool and harden.

While making homemade chocolate from a cacao pod can be a lengthy process, it can also be a fun and rewarding experience and a great way to experiment and create your own unique flavors. Plus, you can ensure that the chocolate you are consuming is of the highest quality and is produced in an ethical and sustainable manner!
