This species of bee is different from honey bees. They don’t have a hive or a queen. They are solitary and raise their young underground. They only collect pollen from plants in the squash family so they specialize in pollinating some of our fall favorites, like pumpkins! 🎃 #cuteanimals #animalrescue #gardentok

This species of bee, called the Squash Bee, is a little different than honey bees, and they find a resting place inside the flowers of squashes.

@girlnextdoorhoney posted a now-viral TikTok about how she found a Squash Bee that was locked out of her flower. The bees usually sleep in the squash flowers but the flower had closed for the afternoon so she helped the little bee by opening the flower and letting it crawl inside. She explained that the bee species does not have a hive or queen.

“They are solitary and raise their young underground. They only collect pollen from plants in the squash family so they specialize in pollinating some of our fall favorites, like pumpkins!” she wrote in the caption.
