The Environmental Protection Department today announced that it recorded 87 convictions for pollution offences in January.

Among the convictions, 26 were related to waste disposal and 25 were under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation.

There were also 24 for air pollution, eight for noise pollution and four for water pollution.

The heaviest fine for the month was $30,000 given to a company for contravening licence provisions.
