Brian Tee, who portrays Dr. Ethan Choi on Chicago Med, shares several behind-the-scenes photos celebrating his directorial debut. Tee has starred on the medical drama since its inception in 2015. To date, he has starred in a total of eight seasons as Dr. Choi. Chicago Med is the third series in Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise and follows the emergency department crew at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Choi is the Chief of Emergency Medicine and is also a veteran who served in the United States Navy Reserve.

Tee took to Instagram to share several BTS photos from his experience directing on the set of Chicago Med.

Tee announced last year that he was exiting Chicago Med in season 8. Although he departed his role as Dr. Choi in episode 9, "This Could Be the Start of Something New," he had the opportunity to return later in the season to direct an episode. This marked the very first directing credit of his career.

While viewers may be disappointed over Dr. Choi's exit from Chicago Med, Tee's post shows that he left on good terms and that the show was able to provide him with both acting and directing opportunities. As a result, some may wonder about the reasons for his departure. Tee confirmed his exit in October 2022, and his reasons for leaving were to spend more time with his family and pursue other opportunities in the future.

Tee has seemingly enjoyed his time on the set of Chicago Med, but filming 8 seasons is quite a demand on one's time. Meanwhile, the 46-year-old actor has been married to Mirelly Taylor for several years, and the pair welcomed a daughter in 2015, the same year Chicago Med premiered. As a result, it isn't surprising he would want to experience family life without the demands of filming a TV series. Additionally, leaving the show will give him more freedom in the film industry to explore new roles and different positions, like producing and directing.

Fortunately, Chicago Med gave him both an impressive acting credit and his first experience in directing, setting him up well for future success. He has also revealed that he is still open to returning to Chicago Med in the future. Tee has referred to the cast and crew of the show as "family" and indicated that he would not hesitate to make a comeback as Dr. Choi. Though Tee opted to depart Chicago Med after 8 seasons, he has enjoyed his long stint on the show and is ready to move on, while remaining grateful to the Chicago franchise.
