Why Karnataka government cracked the whip on two senior officers

A transfer order

In the wake of a bitter public feud between two senior women officers, the Karnataka government on Tuesday transferred them, without specifying their new postings.

An IAS Vs IPS tussle

The state government has served notices on the warring IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri and IPS officer D. Roopa Moudgil over their public spat and issued a gag order to rein them in.
Roopa's husband Munish Moudgil, who was commissioner, Survey Settlement and Land Records, has also been redesignated as the principal secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms with immediate effect.

Complaints

The two women officers had lodged complaints and counter complaints against each other with chief secretary Vandita Sharma. The matter was also discussed in the cabinet meeting held on Monday. Ministers had raised their concern about the public fight of officers affecting the image of the government.

How it all began

IPS officer Roopa Moudgil and IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri got into a heated argument after the former levelled accusations of corruption and inappropriate behaviour against the latter. This argument was seen as an escalation of previously simmering tensions.
Roopa had taken to the social media posting some photographs of Rohini questioning the intent behind sending such "objectionable pictures" to "three IAS officers", which according to her was a crime as per the IAS service conduct rules
The row started when pictures of Sa Ra Mahesh, a JD(S) MLA, and Sindhuri seated together in a restaurant appeared in the media.
