Raiders named top landing spot for Jalen Ramsey if released

For the last two months, there have been rumblings that the Rams could cut or trade Jalen Ramsey this off-season. With the Rams being way over the salary cap and Ramsey coming off shoulder surgery, there is a chance that move on from him in the upcoming month.

But if Ramsey is released or traded, which teams would be at the top of his wishlist? The Raiders have to be near the top as Ramsey went on a record a few years ago that he would love to play in Las Vegas.

It also makes a lot of sense for the Raiders as they need cornerback help and have the salary cap space to make it work. Here is a snippet by Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report on why the Raiders should be the top landing spot option for Ramsey if he’s searching for a new home.

“Las Vegas is also projected by Spotrac to possess more salary-cap space than anybody else in the AFC, and a pass defense that ranked 31st in DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average) at Football Outsiders would likely love to upgrade over impending free-agent corner Rock Ya-Sin anyway.

It might depend on what the Raiders do at quarterback now, but at this stage, Ramsey makes a lot of sense as a potential addition this offseason.”

Ramsey is still one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but there are some concerns about his body moving forward. He is coming off surgery and has been a bit banged up over the last few years. Will the Raiders be comfortable making him the highest-paid cornerback in the league despite going under the knife?

While nothing is official yet, look for the Rams to explore the possibility of moving Ramsey this offseason and expect the Raiders to have a ton of interest in the All-Pro cornerback.
