But wait – isn’t vegan cheese supposed to be better for the environment? Well, that’s not always the case. Some vegan cheese ingredients, like nuts and soy, can have a larger carbon footprint due to the fact that they often need to be imported from warm climates. This transportation can contribute to emissions. However, the demand for vegan cheese isn’t slowing down anytime soon. In the UK, the market for plant-based cheese is projected to grow by over 50 percent in the next five years, and similar growth is expected in the US and other countries.

So what’s driving this demand? For many people, it’s the increasing awareness of the environmental impact of animal agriculture and health concerns surrounding dairy products. Plant-based alternatives like vegan cheese offer a way to reduce their carbon footprint and improve their health.
