Padres giving ‘Moment’ book to renewing season ticket holders

The Polaroids stacked up as the Padres pushed their way to the NLCS, the candid shots documenting the 2022 season ultimately filling a wall leading from the Padres’ home clubhouse to the stairs leading to the dugout.

Whatever their final resting spot becomes, the shots will finally be shared outside Petco Park.

At least with renewing season ticket holders.

The Padres on Tuesday unveiled some pages from the “2022 Capture the Moment Commemorative Book,” which will be distributed beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the start of FanFest.

The book is free to renewing season ticket members (the Padres will announce pick-up dates for eligible season ticketholders not attending FanFest at a later date). The remaining supply will be ultimately available for purchase in the team store.

The Padres also have plans to release a digital version of the book at a later date.

Like the “swagg chain” in 2020, taking Polariods of big moments — the brainchild of pitcher Joe Musgrove — became something of a tradition as the Padres marched toward their first full-season playoff berth since 2006.

The players themselves were behind the camera. They aren’t especially the highest of quality. Some are out of focus. Some are poorly lit. But they are one-of-a-kind and they tell the story of the 2022 season as only the players themselves could, as Union-Tribune staff photograph K.C. Alfred documented last October in a feature accompanied with his own collection of photos of the Padres’ capturing the moment.
