A woman has been rescued from a house fire in Beckenham.

The fire broke out in Ellesmere Avenue at 8.10pm on January 28.

Three fire engines and 15 firefighters tackled the blaze.

A small part of the kitchen on the ground floor of a three-storey house was destroyed by fire.

Two people left the property before the arrival of the brigade.

A woman, who was suffering from smoke inhalation, was rescued by crews using a short extension ladder.

The fire was under control at 8.45pm.

Fire crews from Beckenham, Bromley, and Woodside fire stations were called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade: “Three fire engines and 15 firefighters were called to a house fire on Ellesmere Avenue, Beckenham.

“A small part of the kitchen on the ground floor of a three-storey town house converted into flats was destroyed by fire.

“One woman was rescued by fire crews using a short extension ladder, from a flat roof, suffering from smoke inhalation.

“The Brigade was called at 2010 and the fire was under control at 2045.

“Fire crews from Beckenham, Bromley and Woodside fire stations were in attendance.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
