Theft Suspect Who Skipped Court Dates Arrested in Downtown Arlington Heights Friday the 13th

Samuel Thakurdas, accused of theft, and charged with Violation of Bail Bond was arrested in downtown Arlington Heights (SOURCE: Cook County Sheriff’s Office).

Police officers from Arlington Heights responded about 9:21 p.m. January 13, 2023 near Noodles and Company, 66 South Arlington Heights Road to arrest a suspect who skipped court dates in January 2023 after two thefts in December 2022.

Samuel B. Thakurdas was accused of retail theft at Jewel-Osco at 122 North Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights. Thakurdas allegedly took merchandise valued at under $300 without paying just before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Using surveillance video, police familiar with the suspect were able to identify him, and later he was arrested at 4:55 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at a residence in Palatine. Thakurdas was released on a $100 I-Bond with a court date of Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.




Samuel B. Thakurdas also was accused of theft of a tip jar at Mago’s Grill & Cantina, 115 West Campbell Street, and he was arrested a short time after the alleged theft at 8:49 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Police arrested Thakurdas in downtown Arlington Heights after he left the scene at Mago’s Grill & Cantina. He was released on a $100 I-Bond with a court date of Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.

Police officers, aware that Thakurdas had skipped at least one of the court dates, recognized him walking in downtown Arlington Heights, and arrested him near Noodles and Company, 66 South Arlington Heights Road on Friday, January 13, 2023. He was charged with Violation of Bail Bond, and is currently being held in Cook County Jail (DIV08-3B-D1-5) on a $30,000 bond. His next court date is Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Thakurdas had another warrant for other unknown charges, and is being held on $7500 bond with the same court date.
