SIPITANG: After waiting for more than 11 hours, 35 vehicles and some 200 people including children who were stranded on the banks of the submerged Meligan river concrete bridge, were able to pass at around 11pm on December 23.

According to Markus Marthin, 49, those stranded either from the direction of Long Pasia or Kg Meligan, returned to their village to celebrate Christmas and New Year 2023 with their families.

“Before being able to cross the bridge, they worked together to sweep away debris that was strewn across the bridge with the help of vehicle light, allowing them to pass safely.
