Elect community leaders, not appoint: Umno
Samsul said if the said posts are filled by direct appointment and the appointed individual has a political interest, then they will be busy pursuing the project of the YB only, thus neglecting the responsibility of developing and advancing their village.
SIPITANG: Sipitang Umno Youth welcomed the proposal for the posts of Chairman and committee members of the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) at the village level to be filled via an election system and not direct appointment by the State Government.

Its Assistant Secretary Samsul Ahli said young and grassroots leaders want the posts to be filled via a democratic process with the election being made by the villagers themselves. He said the proposal is a reform voiced by the young generation in the villages who want their elected leaders to be those who are committed and work hard for the progress and security of their village.

“If previously the JPKK Chairman and committee members were directly appointed by the Government, now it is time for them to be democratically elected by the villagers themselves through a vote.
