Herbert Deutsch, transformative figure in electronic music, dies at 90

Mr. Deutsch was the co-inventor of the Moog synthesizer. It revolutionized the sound of rock, classical and other forms of music.

Herbert A. Deutsch, a composer who collaborated with engineer Robert Moog in the 1960s to invent a portable electronic music synthesizer that revolutionized the sound of rock, classical and other forms of music, died Dec. 9 at his home in Massapequa Park, N.Y. He was 90.

His stepson Daniel Rogge confirmed his death but did not cite a specific cause.
