Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant Gets Details, Media

Developer Grimorio of Games provided some initial details and media for Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant, its follow-up to last year’s Sword of the Necromancer. The game is a 3D action RPG, as opposed to its predecessors’ 2D top-down visuals, and is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A release window has not yet been announced.

A sequel to Sword of the Necromancer, Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant introduces a new protagonist, Kara (voiced by Sean Chiplock), though previous protagonists Tama and Koko will also return. Kara is a wandering thief who steals from tombs and crypts, and he obtains the eponymous sword but in the process awakens the evil Zain. The game sees players traveling across the world, including assisting with the restoration of the Sacred City of Euda to gain access to more facilities, while trying to vanquish the Necromancer once and for all.

Players can use the Sword of the Necromancer to resurrect defeated monsters as allies. They can also defeat Revenants, once great heroes whose spirits wander the world, to gain powerful summons. Its combat system includes new elements such as air combos, while monsters can have different tactics assigned. The game includes solo play with an AI companion and split-screen co-op.
