ADL CEO: Trump ‘May Be Running the Most Unapologetic White Nationalist Campaign Ever Seen’

As Mediaite says, and as our site has been saying since Friday, Trump’s “campaign” may already be historically significant. They point to an interview with Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt in which he says that Trump may be running the most unapologetic white nationalist campaign that he has ever seen, and it doesn’t sound like Greenblatt is limiting his observations to the United States.

In an interview with CNN’s Sara Sidner on Saturday, Greenblatt said:

“For Donald Trump to dine with notorious white supremacists and unrepentant bigots, I think at a minimum, Sarah, it’s clarifying. He is trying to make America hate again and running arguably the most unapologetic white nationalist presidential campaign we’ve ever seen.”

We have continually pointed out that Trump hasn’t denounced Fuentes, or his views, only said that he didn’t know him. Until hearing Greenblatt lay it out as a “campaign,” it never occurred to us that this may be on purpose. Trump may want this message to get out. He may want to not denounce Fuentes.

Snider noted that Trump said he didn’t know anything about Fuentes, which didn’t move Greenblatt at all:

It makes no difference. It’s demonstrably unpresidential when you can’t demonstrate a basic knowledge of people in public life,” he said, going on to refer to both Ye and Fuentes as “bottom of the barrel.”

Even though we think Trump knew exactly who was coming to dinner, it doesn’t make a difference. He always ends up surrounded by these people. Time and time again, he finds himself in the company of some of society’s bottom feeders, not Nobel Laureates, great writers, composers, actors, or even respected industry leaders.

Always the lowest level, always. They find their way to him.
