Kheri leopard that killed 4 to be caged in Kanpur zoo
PILIBHIT: An adult male leopard that claimed the lives of four guards of a government agriculture farm in Gola tehsil of Lakhimpur Kheri district in UP between August 23 and October 20 this year will be shifted to Kanpur zoo on Thursday for “life-long stay in confinement”, reports Keshav Agrawal . The big cat, aged around 8 years, was trapped in a cage at the farm on Monday after eluding the forest staff of the south Kheri forest division for over two months.
Divisional forest officer of the area, Sanjay Biswal, said, “The leopard is quite sturdy with no physical deformities or injuries.

The decision to lodge it in a zoo, instead of releasing it in another forest area, was taken as it had developed a tendency to prey on humans despite it being in good health. ”
