After a big win in Denver, the hot seat for Josh McDaniels got a little bit cooler. Sitting at 2-7, there was some real discussion if McDaniels would be back for a second season.

But since Mark Davis essentially guaranteed that McDaniels would be back in 2023, that talk has (kind of) gone away. Still, no one knows for sure what the Raiders will do this offseason.

In a recent article by a few of ESPN's insiders, they discussed which coaches will and won't be back in 2023. According to both Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano, they both expect McDaniels to be back in 2023. Here is what Fowler had to say about McDaniels so far this season:

"People I talk to around the league believe McDaniels will get another year, thinking the Raiders brought McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler as a package deal and wouldn't be keen on paying massive buyout money to both of them. After asking around, I don't get the sense he has lost the locker room, which sort of showed up in Sunday's win over Denver."

While things certainly haven't gone great this year for McDaniels, his team has been competitive in nearly every game this season. He deserves at least one more season, especially considering their injuries on offense. However, it would help if he could stack together a few wins to close out the season.
