1. Tell Texas Authorities to Investigate Man For Animal Abuse

Source: FOX 7 Austin/Youtube

A concerned Texas resident has been trying to report their neighbor for animal abuse for over a year, but police have done nothing. Starting almost two years ago, the woman began hearing the sounds of a dog screaming in pain and thudding sounds from one of her neighbor’s condo units. The woman began to record evidence and hoped that she could stop her neighbor from continuing to abuse their pet.

Recently, the neighbor happened to walk by her door’s security camera and kicked his dog as he walked. She took this evidence to the police as well, but they still haven’t done anything. She still hears her neighbor abusing their dog regularly.

Sign this petition to demand that authorities in Texas immediately intervene and protect this poor dog from the very people that are supposed to be caring for and protecting him.

2. Demand the Release of British-Egyptian Activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah

Source: FRANCE 24 English/YouTube

Political activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah has been in prison for the better part of the last nine years. Recently, he was sentenced to five more years in prison for allegedly spreading false news through social media after he shared a post about human rights abuses in Egyptian jails.

Now, with COP27 underway in Egypt, the 40-year-old has stopped drinking water in an attempt to pressure Egyptian authorities to allow him U.K. consular access. Many are concerned about the human rights activist and writer who has reportedly consumed just 100 calories a day for more than 200 days.

Last year, Abdel-Fattah acquired British citizenship and has been working to gain the right to a consular visit. According to the Free Alaa campaign, this request continues to be denied. Amnesty International chief Agnes Callamard said that they had less than three days to save his life. The president of Egypt has claimed there are no political prisoners in the country.

“If they do not want to end up with a death they should have and could have prevented, they must act now,” Callamard said.

3. Demand Justice for Coco, a Dog Abused By Her Human’s Boyfriend

A boxer from Rhode Island abused his girlfriend’s 8-year-old beagle mix named Coco. Coco has multiple severe injuries, including multiple rib fractures. He is facing animal cruelty charges, but we need to make sure that he is banned from ever having an animal again.

Coco was brought in for emergency care and was treated, but the pup should not have experienced this awful abuse. It also was not the first time that Coco was treated for severe injuries. In August, the man and his girlfriend brought Coco to the vet with multiple rib fractures, which they said were from falling down the stairs.

This man should not be allowed to be around animals. He cannot be trusted with taking care of an animal and we need to make sure that no other animal can be harmed by him.

Sign this petition to demand that authorities fully prosecute this man and make sure that he can never have animals again in the future.

4. Demand Florida Remove Questions About Menstrual Cycle For Student Athletes

Source: NBC News/Youtube

A terrifying new form that was introduced by the Florida High School Athletic Association puts trans students and students seeking reproductive care at risk. The online form was introduced and asks female athletes to disclose information about their menstrual cycles. There is no reason that an athletic association would need any of this information, and make matters worse since the form is online, it won’t be protected by HIPAA. This means that the information could be given to third parties that are not medical providers.

Although the students are not required to answer, many might not know this, and these questions are unnecessary, are a breach of privacy, and they pose real risks to the students who answer them. Their answer could be used to out trans students and even to punish students who seek abortion services. The Florida High School Athletic Association must immediately remove these questions from the online form.

Sign this petition to demand that the Florida High School Athletic Association immediately remove these questions!

5. Tell U.S. Customs to Stop Saving Americans’ Phone Data Without Their Consent

Source: WRAL/Youtube

Every year, Customs and Border Protection officials reportedly add data from 10,000 electronic devices to a huge database that they have created from devices seized at airports and other border crossings. The majority of data is captured from people who are not suspects of any crimes, and the data is kept for 15 years. Many argue that this database is unconstitutional and does nothing to keep us safe.

What’s even worse is that nearly 3,000 officers can access this database without a warrant. Many lawmakers and the public didn’t even know that this was happening until the CBP told Congress during a briefing earlier this year. Even if you aren’t engaged in any criminal activity, and border agents have no reason for suspicion, they can take your electronics and look at and store as much data as they would like.

As Americans, we are already subject to far too many data grabs from social media, search engines, police, and the NSA.

Sign this petition to demand that Customs and Border Protection end this mass surveillance program immediately and destroy all backlogged data!

6. Tell the USDA to Shut Down Miami Seaquarium Who Starved Dolphins for Entertainment

Source: WPLG Local 10/Youtube

A shocking new report confirms that animal abuse and cruelty are everpresent at the Miami Seaquarium. According to the report, the dolphins at the facility were underfed and deprived of food to ensure they would perform for guests. They found that nine dolphins’ daily food rations were cut by 60 percent, and one dolphin lost over 100 pounds. There is no reason that this abusement park should stay open.

The amusement park, which opened in 1955, has long had the nickname of “abusement park” and is built on exploiting intelligent marine animals for profit. The torment, imprisonment, and artificial breeding of their animals need to end. These animals should not be in captivity, to begin with.

The Miami Seaquarium has proven time and time again that they do not care about the wellbeing of their animals and the facility needs to be shut down for good.

Sign this petition to demand the USDA protect dolphins and shut down the Miami Seaquarium!

7. Tell States to Lower Insulin Prices Like California

Source: NBC Bay Area/Youtube

According to a recent report, 1.3 million adults with diabetes have to ration their insulin use because of absurd prices. This means that people are skipping important medicine that they need to live. The prices of insulin remain high because there is not any competition, but recently California started to produce low-cost insulin. This will save so many lives, and other states need to start doing the same.

California is partnering with a nonprofit generic drug company to make low-cost insulin and they have already made a $100 million budget to begin. Half of the budget will go toward getting insulin onto the state’s market as quickly as possible. Californians will likely have access to affordable insulin in early 2024.

The price of the four most popular types of insulin has tripled over the last decade, according to the ADA. People with poor or no healthcare can often have over $1,000 worth of insulin costs for a month’s supply.

Sign this petition to urge all US states to produce their own insulin and lower costs for the lifesaving medication!

8. Everett Massachusetts Banned Animal Testing, Tell the Entire State to Follow Suit

A city in Massachusetts has banned any animal testing within the city. Everett chose to ban animal testing after other nearby cities chose to allow the new construction of a science research center that will likely include animal experimentation labs. To send up against this, Everett banned animal testing in the city. Previously, Everett had no laws against animal testing, but luckily now, they stepped up for what is right and banned it to make sure that everyone knew that cruel animal testing has no place there.

Animals in laboratories experience horrific suffering and death. On top of that, the animals come from breeding facilities where they often aren’t given proper veterinary care, food, or water, and live in terrible and cramped conditions. The passage of this bill will be a huge step forward for non-human animals and society as a whole.

According to PETA, the National Institutes of Health wastes $12 billion annually on animal testing that leads nowhere, these experiments on animals fail 90 percent of the time! The research used on animals rarely correlates when it is tested on humans, making it a waste of money and unnecessary. Monkeys, mice, rats, and dogs are all used in animal experiments around the nation. It’s time countries ban animal experimentation altogether as it hurts humans as well.

Sign this petition to urge lawmakers in Massachusetts to pass a law banning all animal testing inside of their state.

9. Demand Stricter Gun Laws After Recent UVA School Shooting

Source: 11Alive/Youtube

A student at the University of Virginia fatally shot three people and wounded two others on campus, The suspect is in custody, but the community was told to shelter in place for hours while authorities tried to locate him. This is just another reason why we need to take meaningful action against the gun problem in the United States.

To create stricter gun laws, we need to end the filibuster, which has been used to block votes on gun violence prevention legislation for decades. There are hundreds of mass shootings in the country every single year. Why haven’t we done anything about this?

The filibuster requires that at least 60 Senators must agree to end a debate and move forward with a vote. Now that Democrats hold the power in the Senate, we must try to abolish the filibuster now so that we can save countless lives.

Sign this petition to demand Congress abolish the filibuster and pass stricter gun laws.

10. Demand Strict Standards and Plans for Protecting Passengers with Wheelchairs on Flights

Source: 12 News/Youtube

Using a wheelchair is something that many people have to use, whether it be for a disability, injury, medical procedure, or numerous other things. However, airlines in the United States still make it extremely difficult for people who use wheelchairs to fly. Flying with a wheelchair is incredibly difficult, and it can be humiliating, especially when they are often mistreated by the industry. Flying can even be dangerous for people in wheelchairs.

Sign this petition to demand that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration introduce strict standards and plans for protecting passengers with disabilities and any equipment they may be traveling with!
