Norwich spurned the chance to go top after a 1-1 draw in the tussle between second and third at Reading.
Grant Hanley gave the Canaries the lead on 50 minutes, before Jeff Hendrick’s half volley.
Elsewhere, Luton and Huddersfield played a topsy-turvy 3-3 thriller at Kenilworth Road. Carlton Morris’s own goal put the visitors ahead, before Elijah Adebayo hit his first of the game.

Jordan Rhodes put the Terriers ahead from the spot after 32 minutes and Adebayo added his second. Jordan Clark fired the Hatters ahead in first half stoppage time. Ben Jackson levelled after the break to give new boss Mark Fotheringham a first point.
Cardiff snatched a 1-0 win over Blackburn thanks to Mark Harris’s 83rd-minute beauty. George Hirst missed a late penalty for Rovers.
And there were goalless draws between Bristol City and bottom side Coventry and Sunderland and Blackpool.
