I used to own a 1959 100-6. I had a slide off the road in North Dakota in the winter. Smashed the front fender then sold the car for $500. It was originally light blue but I painted it red,,,,, I know,,,, this was back in the 70's.
It would be fun to locate the car. Does anybody have this car now?

Hello Kevin,
If you have any record of the VIN we can look in the Austin-Healey Club of America registry to see if the current owner has registered it with the club. If you don't want to share the VIN publicly, you can PM me, and I will search.

Kevin,
I'd say most likely the car was probably crushed many years ago. But let's say it's still around ,which is possible, and the owner is on this site. How would he even know his car was your old car? In fact after fifty years and numerous face lifts and restorations you could be standing right next to it and not even know it.
I don't mean to rain on your parade but guys with lots of paperwork and PO info have had zero luck finding their old car and all you've got is a memory.

Glad that you took the shot and I hope it leads you somewhere!
I understand that you cannot search DMV records for other people or registrations but could ND DMV find your old records by your name and address at the time or license plate number? Could be worth a call or an FOIA request if needed (Freedom Of Information Act) if ND has that in place.
Best of luck!
Steve

Guys,
Since the Rebecca Schaeffer debacle the CA DMV will provide no information about any cars or owners previous or current and that includes cars that you currently own. And as far as I know all 49 other states followed suit. Before that you could get the past registration history of your car for as long as it remained in the state.
Concerning the FOIA idea DMVs are state agencies and I believe FOIA requests are for the Feds only.

I was hoping that the DMV would be able to provide you the VIN (only) for your car if you had a plate and address to go with it, and that the VIN could be searched in the registry, it sounds like that may not be possible. I knew the DMV can't tell you about other peoples cars but was hopeful they could tell you about yours (no more than the details of the car you owned for that period it was registered to you).
For both my Helaey and TR I've come to have memorized the VINs just from ordering parts.
Best of luck to you
Steve

I took it out of a my 60 BT7, It is no harder to install than a standard dash, only 6-7 bolt/screws hold it in place. Worse part is the steering wheel removal. And it can always be put back.
It's for sale and your local to me. I'm in Broomfield if you have any questions.
