Lake Prince Woods to Host Groundbreaking, Celebrate 20 Years of Senior Living

(September 16, 2022) – Lake Prince Woods, a continuing care retirement community in Suffolk, VA, will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Wellness Center and Commons area upgrades on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 4 pm. The event will take place at the Main Administrative Building at 100 Anna Goode Way. The public is welcome to attend.

These improvements are made possible by Lake Prince Woods’ recent capital campaign, which raised $1,467,047 toward a two-phase initiative to update wellness-enhancing amenities and memory care services on campus. The total cost of the first phase is anticipated to be in the range of $13.5 million. Details of the second phase are still in development.

The groundbreaking will celebrate Lake Prince Woods’ 20 years of senior living in the Hampton Roads area and look forward to a robust new array of amenities to nurture mind, body, and spirit for residents. The event harkens back to Lake Prince Woods’ original grand opening, which took place on September 29, 2002.

The Wellness Center will offer:

  • Dedicated areas for wellness and fitness
  • Art studio and classroom space
  • More and larger spaces to gather with the community
  • Spaces for bridge and other activities
  • Space for Bible study and book clubs
  • Salon and massage space
  • A place to entertain family and friends
  • Improved accessibility

The Commons renovation will:

  • Upgrade the main auditorium/gathering space and provide better audio-visual capabilities
  • Add a pub-style billiards room and lounge
  • Improve wayfinding and increase covered space at the entrance and between buildings

Anticipating the construction, Judy Raymond, Lake Prince Woods’ executive director, says, “With years of planning and groundwork behind us, it’s exciting to have these new spaces be so close at hand. Not only will they transform the appearance of our campus, but they’ll also transform residents’ lives, offering them new opportunities to grow and thrive in this community we share. We’re thrilled by the prospects.”

Lee Syria, president and CEO of EveryAge, Lake Prince Woods’ parent company, agrees, stating, “It’s always gratifying to enhance the beauty and function of our communities, whether that’s through new services, new environments, or new programs. We’ve been eager to create more communal gathering spaces at Lake Prince Woods – and to increase overall accessibility – and our residents and donors have made a powerful commitment to support these efforts. It’s the fulfillment of so much of what we’ve been dreaming about.”
