Authorities in J&K’s Rajouri district on Friday imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, barring the assembly of four or more persons, after tension between two communities over a land dispute.

JAMMU: Authorities in J&K’s Rajouri district on Friday imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, barring the assembly of four or more persons, after tension between two communities over a land dispute.
Rajouri SSP Mohammad Aslam said the restrictions were imposed to prevent a law and order problem after a piece of land in Naban locality of Rajouri town, claimed by both communities, was attached under Section 145 CrPC and placed under SHO’s custody till the case is decided in court.

Following that, one community called for a strike.
District officials said high-speed internet was jammed for a few hours to prevent rumour-mongering and barbed wires were placed in some sensitive areas to prevent movement of people, besides deployment of additional police forces.
The restrictions would be lifted on Saturday as the situation on Friday remained completely peaceful, deputy commissioner Vikas K.
