Yatra to save family, Rahul Gandhi should unify party first: BJP
Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said Rahul Gandhi could not unify his own party, the Congress (ANI)
NEW DELHI: BJP on Wednesday dubbed Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ as “hollow” and claimed that it was essentially a “family-saving campaign” to keep control of Gandhis over the party and was another attempt to establish Rahul Gandhi as a leader. At a press conference, BJP leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said Gandhi could not unify his own party as he took a swipe at the Opposition party, saying there is a regular “court chorus” for him to become the party president again while he is often abroad.

“Essentially, it is a familysaving campaign. The family’s and the party’s political expanse has been shrinking while they face corruption charges. This is not about unifying the country but trying to establish him (Rahul) again as a leader. I would like to know how many times he will be launched and relaunched?” Prasad said.
The BJP leader said, "This Yatra, thus, is not for uniting the country, but to relaunch Rahul Gandhi! His leading, it’s apparent, is a complete failure. ” Referring to the recent exits of leaders from the Congress, including that of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Prasad said Rahul Gandhi couldn’t even unify his party. “Congress’ own old dedicated people, dedicated leaders are leaving the party and Rahul ji has gone to unite the country. Rahul ji, you should have united your house, and party first, then you should talk about connecting the country. This is just your deceptive politics and a sham,” Prasad said.
The BJP leader also alleged that Gandhi had in the past “worked to weaken the country’s unity” by seeking evidence of the Indian armed forces’ action on terror camps inside Pakistan and questioned the government’s various moves, including the lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“There has been a culture of India that never question the martyrdom of the army, the valour of the army and the sacrifice of the army. It is the hypocrisy of the worst order as Rahul Gandhi tried to weaken the unity of the country by asking proof for Uri and Balakot incident,” Prasad said and added, “Rahul ji, you tried to break the country's strategic security and sacrifice of the army, and you talk about uniting the country. ”
