Cop shot dead by ‘liquor mafia’ in Bihar’s Siwan

A 35-year-old police constable was shot dead by suspected liquor smugglers in dry Bihar’s Siwan district early Wednesday. The deceased Balmiki Yadav was posted in Siwan’s Siswan police station.

PATNA: A 35-year-old police constable was shot dead by suspected liquor smugglers in dry Bihar’s Siwan district early Wednesday.
The deceased Balmiki Yadav was posted in Siwan’s Siswan police station.
The crime took place at 2.45am when a patrolling party was returning after conducting raids based on a tip-off about liquor smugglers at Gyaspur village, which is known for gangsters Rayees Khan and Ayub Khan.

On seeing three-four men sitting on the roadside, the cops asked them about their whereabouts. But they began to flee. When police chased them, the suspects opened fire, in which Yadav sustained bullet injuries. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, Siswan SHO Rajesh Kumar said.
