Bengaluru 7th September : Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister Umesh Katti died of heart attack on Tuesday at night in Bengaluru.According to relatives family sources, 61-year-old Umesh Katti complained of chest pain and fell down in the bathroom of his Dollars Colony residence at 10.30 p.m.
He was then immediately transferred to the M.S.Ramaiah hospital.But, Umesh Katti succumbed to heart attacks in the hospital.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was taken to the hospital as soon as receiving the information.Opposition leader Siddaramaiah who was in Mysuru as of now, has left to Bengaluru.
The body will be transported to his home in Tilakawadi in Belagavi in the early hours of Wednesday.It will be open to the public at his home in Shivabasavanagar in Tilakawadi.
Umesh Katti was the oldest and most popular representative in Karnataka legislative body.He became a politician in 1985 following the death of his father Vishwanath Katti.
Umesh Katti was a spokesman for a independent north Karnataka state and claimed that he was going to be chief minister of the state that was created, which sparked controversy.He served as an official in Cabinets of B.S.Yediyurappa, D.V.Sadananda Gowda Jagadish Shettar throughout the time of BJP administration.
He represented Chikkodi assembly constituency for eight times.He was a member of Janata Party, Janata Dal, Janata Dal (U) and BJP.
Umesh Katti also ran for office as an Congress candidate for the party in 2004.
