Special report on fireman Adib's death received, to be presented to Cabinet


PETALING JAYA: The special report on the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim has been completed and will be presented to the Cabinet in September, says Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) said that the Government received the full report on Tuesday (Aug 30).

It states details of Muhammad Adib's cause of death, interviews of witnesses as well as reviews of investigative documents carried out by the special committee.

"On Tuesday, the Government received the full report of the special committee to investigate the death of the late Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim. (The committee) started the investigation process on Dec 21, 2021.

"The report took into account various views from experts and representatives of relevant ministries, departments and agencies," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 31).

Wan Junaidi, who is also the chairman of the special committee, said the report was completed by the stipulated date of Aug 31.

"In addition, incident reconstruction sessions were also held with relevant agencies to simulate the incident based on footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV), video clips and statements from witnesses.

"It is the Government's hope that this report will answer the public's questions over the incident," Wan Junaidi said.

On Nov 29 last year, Muhammad Adib's family received RM1.5mil in compensation from the Government.

The fireman, who was a member of the Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, sustained serious injuries during a commotion at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya on Nov 27, 2018 and died on Dec 17 at the National Heart Institute.
