More than 1 million Americans have died from COVID-19, but fewer than 700 lawsuits have been filed alleging deaths and injuries from the pandemic, and case filings continue to decline.

That’s according to the 2022 Torts Litigation Report, released Thursday by Lex Machina, a division of LexisNexis. The report, which looked at tort actions in federal courts, found that COVID-19-related cases peaked at 115 during the first quarter of 2021 but have steadily declined.
