KUALA LUMPUR: The newly-established Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition has more supporters in Sabah than in the peninsula, claims Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic).
The GTA chairman, when asked if the party was working with Parti Warisan led by Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said they were making strides in Sabah and Sarawak.
"They are our strong supporters. Most of them are from existing parties in the government and want a change," said the former prime minister.

GTA comprises Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional (Iman), Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) and Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra). It is also open to participation from non-governmental organisations (NGO), individuals, academics and professional groups among the Malays.
Dr Mahathir announced GTA's formation on Aug 4. He said the movement would field candidates in 120 parliamentary seats in Peninsular Malaysia.
