After months of lateral hiring in South Florida, Sidley Austin formally announced its Miami office in a Wednesday press release and stated that it has over 40 lawyers in Miami already, twice as many as the firm has acknowledged to date.

For Sidley’s 21st global office and its first in the Southeast, the 2,100-lawyer firm signed for 60,000 square feet at 830 Brickell, a 55-story office tower nearing completion that will include other recent Miami entrants such as Winston & Strawn, Thoma Bravo, and Microsoft. But Sidley’s lease is the largest—not just in 830 Brickell, but in Miami this year, according to a review of commercial leasing data from Cushman & Wakefield.
