Still Building America: Rapid rise of Vyper's shop chairs

How the Green Bay start-up has quickly found success with fabricators and other tradespeople

In this Still Building America episode, we talk with the guys behind Vyper Industrial: co-founders and brothers Dayne Rusch and Dylan Rusch as well as Chief Marketing Officer Alex Ostrihonsky. The Green Bay, Wis., company started in 2020 with its revolutionary industrial chair design, which was inspired by a prototype created by their father, Chris Rusch, co-founder of Rusch Machine & Design Inc., in his home shop.

"He was always working in the garage. The first chair he made was kind of scrap pieces that he had laying around his shop," Dayne said in the video interview. "It wasn't the most beautiful chair, but the idea was there. We took that prototype and made it perfect."

In a very short period of time, Vyper's chairs and stools have made waves among professional metal fabricators, welders, and hobbyist tradespeople who work out their garage.

"This is something we think the market needs. And if it's something that we need, then it's more than likely a million other people will need that same product," Dayne added. "We built a website, and the next thing you know, one chair turned into two, two turned into ten, and ten turned into thousands."

The Rusch brothers explain how they and the rest of the Vyper industrial team have committed to valuing 100-percent American-made products. And after such a quick rise to success in just two years, Vyper is looking to take the company to the next level by continuing to improve current products, innovate chair design, listen to customer feedback, and find ways to set new standards for quality.

"It's been nonstop improvements since the day we started," Dayne said.
