Stay away from TV debates, AIMPLB urges Muslim leaders
LUCKNOW: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board on Friday issued an appeal to community leaders and intellectuals to stay away from debates on TV channels which aim to “ridicule and make mockery of Islam and Muslims”.
AIMPLB general secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani in a statement said the Board’s president Maulana Rabe Hasani and others have issued a joint appeal.

“These individuals should realise that they are not serving the community in any manner. On the contrary, they become party to the attempts to bring disrepute to Islam and its followers,” Rahmani said quoting the joint appeal.
He said for some channels, the agenda behind organising debates is not to reach a constructive consensus or look for solutions but to “make fun of Muslims and Islam”.
“Such channels include a Muslim face in their panel of guests only to send across a message that they are impartial in their discussion. Our leaders and intellectuals do not realise this and fall prey to the trap,” the appeal said.
