The Economic Opportunity of the Metaverse

The Potential Global Economic Opportunity of the Metaverse, a whitepaper published by Analysis Group¹ , estimates the global metaverse economy could be worth more than $3 trillion in a decade. In fact, even if the metaverse goes on to account for the equivalent of just 10% of pre-pandemic US digital economy, it would be a $200 billion industry. The metaverse is poised to unlock new opportunities for people, communities and businesses. But, with the metaverse in the early stages, it’s hard to imagine what it could look like and the many pieces that will be required to make it a reality. Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, has outlined his thoughts on the benefits and economic opportunity of the metaverse, and explores how we can collectively build a safe, responsible place that will allow us to connect in meaningful ways in, what we believe, will be the successor of the mobile internet.
