The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, said it will hold a news conference Friday to provide an update after a recent cyber attack.UG officials said they are still trying to assess the attack, but that no additional attacks have been identified. On April 16, the UG said it discovered a cybersecurity attack to its data centers during routine maintenance of its systems. Many UG servers were shut down as a precautionary measure to isolate the issue and contain the attack.UG officials said federal cybersecurity authorities were notified within hours after the attack was discovered. In addition, private sector cybersecurity resources were brought in to help t with preventing repeat attacks, identifying and removing any malicious software, and strengthening cybersecurity posture of the UG. Officials said details of the nature of the cyberattack won't be released until a detailed investigation is finished.
