Took some time off Bonnet to finish up rear axle. Checked bearing, gears, seals, shoes and drums.
Shaft bearing newer, as previous owner replaced and swapped out drive shaft u joints. After inspection gears look good but seal was leaking again so replaced while using aviation seal.
Hub bearings and seals all worn out and wet shoes. after further inspection drivers cyl. leaking too. Drums still have some good capacity. Ordered a rebuild kit and went to work (bugeye guy).
Built a quick and easy seal and bearing pully with a bolt and washers. The inner washer made to sleeve into inner hub wall. Using an over size socket drove the bearing the rest of the way home (placed axle on end and tapped in - u know you are good when the noise changes). I used aviator seal on the paper seal and compressed hub with washers to set and allow to tighten NEW set screw.
Shoes and springs went in fine (bugeye guy), and new cyl too. On replacing hub axle and resealing, i did get fowling on drivers side with two bolts and the surface of the new cyl. After further inspection the drivers cyl had a moulding bump that needed to be ground down. The newer cly do stick up more than the old ones so others may face similar issues some day - just hope I ground enough...see how first drive goes.
Parking brake assembly was easy, though had to make up a rubber seal for post - no way to order that online - and easy fix.
Wire brushed with wheel, acid etched, de-greased, POR15 and then a clear coat.
