We are excited to be accepting applications for a four-month leadership program for women* with disabilities ages 20 – 35 interested in serving on board of directors of a nonprofit organization.

There are many ways to share your knowledge and take on leadership roles in our community. One way is to serve on a board. This leadership program is for women with disabilities ages 20- 35 who want to serve on a board. This program is aimed at women who have not served on a board before. Applications will be accepted from individuals that have served on a board in the past or are currently on a board but feel lost in the process or feel like their voice isn’t currently being heard.

Together we will explore topics such as:

Vision to Goal: Taking the Leap to Apply

Robert’s Rules: How to get your voice heard in the land of Robert’s rules when it is required

Deciding where you want to serve: Disability specific or non-disability specific

Disability pride, rejecting shame, and giving the diplomatic (or not) middle finger to ableism

Who are we representing? Remember your community and allyship

Yes you are ready- imposter syndrome and taking a seat at the table

Financial documents: how to read them and how to understand them

This program will select 8 – 10 participants, and more than half the participants will be from Michigan but you may apply from anywhere.

Applicants in Michigan who need a device to access the internet will be connected to the Michigan Assistive Technology Program for assistance.

This program is to increase the number of women with disabilities who are represented on boards. When we say women this includes cis-women, trans-women, femme/feminine-identifying, genderqueer, and non-binary folks. We want to include all individuals that believe that their identity advances this goal. If you believe that is you. We welcome you to apply.

Sessions we be held virtually 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Eastern Time on the following dates:

June 8th and 9th

July 13th or 14th

August 17th and 18th

September 7th
