How To Do Ghusl - Muslim Shower

Ghusl- taking a bath, something which we do every day. But if we think about it, it's a pretty important part of our religion. Because if we are not pure, we cannot perform some important religious deeds.

Now let's have a look at the correct manner of ghusl and how consciously and how well you perform

we really can't emphasize the importance of ghusl enough in this series.

There are two kinds of ritual impurities the minor impurity and the major impurity, which occurs as a result of janaba, haidh or niphas.

To achieve purity from the minor impurity you only need to renew your wudu, ie ablution. Whereas in the case of major impurity you need to take a Ghusl

Ghusl can be taken in two ways, a complete Ghusl with all the Sunnahs of the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) and a partial or a sufficient Ghusl which means only doing what is obligatory to free ourselves from the ritual impurity

Two Approaches to Ghusl:

  1. Simple Version:

    • Intention: Form the sincere intention to perform Ghusl.
    • Ensure water reaches all parts of the body through a shower or bath.
  2. Prophetic Way (Sunnah) - Six Steps:

    • Step 1: Intention - Form the correct intention for Ghusl.
    • Step 2: Begin with "Bismillah" - Say "Bismillah" and wash your hands.
    • Step 3: Wash Private Parts - Cleanse your private parts.
    • Step 4: Follow Wudu Steps - Perform the steps of Wudu, including:
      • Washing hands
      • Rinsing mouth and nose
      • Washing face
      • Washing hands up to elbows
      • Wiping head and ears
      • Washing feet (or delay until the end)
    • Step 5: Pour Water Over Head - Three times, ensuring water reaches the roots of the hair while rubbing.
    • Step 6: Wash Entire Body - Starting from the right side, then the left, ensuring water reaches all parts.

Note: It is Sunnah to wash the feet at the end if not included during Wudu.

Remember, performing Ghusl according to the Prophet's Sunnah carries additional rewards.

The obligatory acts of Ghusl are

  • Niyyah, intention that we are taking this bath to purify ourself from the major ritual impurity
  • rinsing your mouth and nose
  • and letting water run over your entire body at least once

Make sure it reaches every part of it even your scalp under the thick hair.

If you manage to do this much then you have purified yourself from the major ritual impurity

so these are the etiquettes of the complete Ghusl.

Ghusl essentially means letting the water run over every part of your body. So if you are wearing a ring, you should move it, and if it is so tight that the water won't reach the skin underneath, then you have to remove it.

Cosmetic items which form a barrier and prevent the water from reaching your skin must also be taken off.
