Miami Tech Week 2022: How the Metaverse Will Be a Key Component of the Events That Will Bring Together the Tech Industry's Top Leaders

In a world where people and brands seek to connect more every day, one of Meta's goals is to provide the necessary tools and innovations to simplify building communities. How can the metaverse and augmented reality technology help companies deliver innovative and immersive experiences to their audiences? How can we all drive more diverse and inclusive societies and brands? These are some of the topics that Meta will discuss at the event that will bring together more than 16,000 attendees in Miami, a city that has become one of the most important centers of technological innovation for Latin America. Miami Tech Week 2022 begins the week of April 18, and here we fill you in on everything you need to know.

We are living in a time of change: transformation is leading the way.

It's not just another era for brands and organizations around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation, and people are increasingly connected not only to each other, but also to brands through new and multiple devices. Knowing how to reinvent oneself in response to the new demands that these changes bring along with them is no longer an option but a necessity, and this involves capitalizing on the latest technological innovations in all areas and business sectors.

Over the years, Meta has been one of the pioneering companies in developing Miami's technology ecosystem. For the same reason, it will be part of eMerge Americas during that week, an event in which more than 16,000 people from companies of different sizes and industries participate year after year. This event intends to strengthen the links between brands and people from various industries—such as technology, music, media, art, fashion, real estate and finance—over 2 days of panels, meetings and conferences.

In this 2022 edition, Maren Lau, Regional Vice President at Meta Latin America, will participate in different activities related to technological innovation and how companies can take advantage of it. She will also participate in meetings and panels to discuss key issues for the present and the future, such as incorporating equity and diversity in the workplace and corporate communications and the importance and impact of women leaders in the technology field.

Meta's agenda at Miami Tech Week 2022: innovation, leadership and diversity

Monday, April 18: A breakfast meeting with women leaders in the technology ecosystem

In technology and other industries, women leaders are increasingly changing the rules of the work ecosystem and are essential players in moving toward a society in which equity and diversity are a reality. Their voices and impact, both socially and professionally, grow every day.

Accordingly, on Monday, April 18, Maren Lau will participate in a breakfast meeting with 25 other women leaders to share their own experiences, discuss the present and future of women in leadership, and the importance and growth of Miami as a center of technological development. The meeting will take place at Kaori, one of the city's most renowned Asian and Mediterranean restaurants.

Tuesday, April 19: Emerging technologies at Miami's premier venue

Over the years, the main stage of the New World Center has hosted talks delivered by the most prestigious and influential speakers who participated in eMerge Americas, an event that has been taking place since 2014 and has led Miami’s transformation into a global technology hub. In fact, in this 2022 edition, Serena Williams, entrepreneur and 23-time Grand Slam tournament champion, will be one of the speakers.

On Tuesday, April 19, Maren Lau, along with 3 female industry leaders at the same venue, will be part of the panel Metaverse, Blockchain and NFT, Oh My! Business Applications for Emerging Technologies. She will be joined by Nelly Ortiz, Director of Globant's Hacking Studio; Michell Abbs, VP of Community & Education at Metagood; and Melinda Delis, Director of Business Development & Senior Relationship Management at Gemini.

At a time of considerable challenges for companies and organizations, in which they must call on the latest digital transformation innovations, the talk will focus on the opportunities that these new technologies—and their rapid incorporation—offer leaders to break into their different sectors. From the metaverse and digital spaces, which are no longer promises but a reality, to cryptocurrencies and the Blockchain, all of these will be covered in this meeting.

Wednesday, April 20: Our vision of the metaverse and its opportunities

Social technologies have been evolving with rampant force over the last few decades. From the widespread use of the internet to the emergence of social networks and, later on, their combination with mobile devices, people are gaining access to new opportunities year after year. And the metaverse—a set of multiple digital spaces, a new dimension that includes 3D experiences—signifies the next step in that evolution, allowing us to meet face-to-face to talk or do business in the same virtual space.

Sharing our vision of the metaverse and the different ways brands can leverage it to boost their business results in the region by creating new connections is one of our primary objectives for this Miami Tech Week. And so, on Wednesday, April 20, the Metaverse Summit, a gathering of 50 leaders, will be held at the New World Center in Miami. It will be a space for conversation about the present and future of the metaverse and how each company can use augmented reality technologies to offer a higher-level experience to their clients.

In the metaverse, the digital acceleration of brands finds the opportunity to create new spaces to connect with audiences, expand brand presence and multiply their points of contact creatively. And although the final vision of the metaverse is still years away, it already offers exceptional opportunities.
