4 Tips on How Businesses Can Support the Muslim Community During Ramadan

April marks the start of Ramadan—the holy month of fasting, prayer and introspection observed by Muslims all over the world. "It's important to us because it reminds us of some of the core values of Islam: giving back, expressing kindness and practicing self-discipline," says Yara Ayoob (@yarziezz), a Benefit Middle East Regional Brow Expert and creator based in Dubai.

During Ramadan, she explains, Muslims don’t eat or drink from dawn to sunset, and they break their daily fasts by sharing meals with family and friends. It's a time to focus on self-reflection and community.

"Whether supporting small businesses, causes or communities," Yara continues, "Ramadan is definitely a time to do good."

For small businesses that want to take part in Ramadan but aren't sure how, Yara offers the below 4 tips to help you get started. Through her work at Benefit Middle East, she's become a social media expert skilled at creating meaningful connections among digital communities.

1. Create content that acknowledges Ramadan and what it means.
2. Give back a percentage of sales to a local charity to spread good.
3. Post a story wishing your community a blessed Ramadan.
4. Try to plan posts earlier in the day to be mindful of those who are fasting.
