JAMMU: Alert troops of
Border Security Force (
BSF) on Thursday morning recovered a cache of arms and ammunition smuggled from across the border in Akhnoor sector of
Jammu & Kashmir.
BSF spokespeson (Jammu frontier) DIG S P S Sandhu said that there were intelligence inputs about Pak-based anti-national elements attempting to smuggle weapons into the Indian territory. "Accordingly, BSF troops were kept on high alert and the area between the international border (IB) and fencing was regularly patrolled.
This morning during zero line checking, a BSF party recovered a bag containing arms and ammunition near the IB in Pargwal sector of Akhnoor." The recovery included one AK-47 rifle, 20 AK-47 rounds, two rifle magazines, two Italian-made pistols, 40 pistol rounds and four pistol magazines.
