The Las Vegas Raiders have made numerous big moves to improve their chances in a loaded AFC West. After trading for Davante Adams, this franchise hopes to be competitive next season. Despite that, there have been rumors regarding Derek Carr's future with the organization. New head coach Josh McDaniels offers a not-so-clear take on the situation.

According to Vic Tafur, Josh McDaniels claims the Raiders are “trying to build around” Derek Carr. The moves made by the front office back those claims, as Las Vegas has a substantially better roster than last season. However, when asked about Carr's extension talks, the head coach talks in circles.

Sounds like the Raiders aren't sold on keeping Derek Carr for the long term. Or maybe the franchise is still coming up with a decision on what to do with the veteran quarterback. It's hard to imagine Las Vegas obtaining an upgrade over Carr, as they'd have to deal away valuable assets they simply don't have.

Carr has been a decent quarterback for Las Vegas. He's not the best, but he's certainly not the worst. However, the Raiders might be more willing to give Derek Carr an extension if he leads them to a deep playoff run. With Davante Adams on the roster, anything is possible for this organization.

It'll be interesting to see how Josh McDaniels handles his second stint as a head coach in the NFL. The Raiders have a solid roster and if he can bring his creativeness to the offensive playcalling, Las Vegas will be a problem next season.
