March 23, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 12,240 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 4,250 were detected by nucleic acid tests and 7,990 were identified via rapid antigen tests.

At a press briefing this afternoon, the centre’s Principal Medical & Health Officer Dr Albert Au noted that 1,075,519 cases have been identified and 6,356 patients have passed away since the onset of the fifth wave of the epidemic.

Separately, the Government made restriction-testing declarations to cover several buildings where sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

They include Chui King House of Choi Hung Estate and Kwai Tung House of Tung Tau (II) Estate in Wong Tai Sin, Yau Ning House of Tin Yau Court in Tin Shui Wai and Tsui Mui House of Tsui Ping (North) Estate in Kwun Tong.

As positive sewage test results were found in several housing estates and buildings in Kwun Tong, North District, Kwai Tsing, Yuen Long and Kowloon City, the district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working in such areas from tomorrow.

Furthermore, due to a number of positive cases, 10 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The Government will set up additional mobile specimen collection stations at the playground between Lok Hing House and Wo Hing House of Hing Wah (II) Estate in Chai Wan, and at the basketball courts next to Wong Shek House of Ping Shek Estate in Kwun Tong tomorrow.
