The world of Hollywood is two weeks away from celebrating its top event as "The Oscars" will take place next Sunday, March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, however, very shortly before the mourning invaded the big screen with the announcement this Sunday of the death of the famous American actor, William Hurt.
Hurt passed away at 71 years of age of natural causes product of a long battle against cancer he had since 2018 due to prostate cancer that became uncontrollable and terminal as it ended up spreading to the bones.
The passing was announced by his son Will
The sensitive passing of William Hurt was made known by his son Will through a statement via social networks.
"It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday," Will Hurt said. "He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes."
Four-time Oscar nominee
Hurt's career rightly included four Oscar nominations, three of them in consecutive years during the 1980s for his roles in the films Kiss of the Woman Spider in 1985, Children of a Lesser God in 1986 and Broadcast News in 1987, all for best actor.
The other nomination came in 2005 for History of Violence for Best Supporting Actor in a film in which he was only on screen for about 10 minutes.
In addition, Hurt had a long career on the small screen, although for the most current generations he is best known for his recent work, most notably in The Incredible Hulk in the cinema in 2008 and the mini-series Dune, A.I. Artificial Intelligence and The Village.
