Congress, BJP promise 1 lakh govt jobs to unemployed youth of Assam

Both BJP and Congress have promised the unemployed youths of Assam to give 1 lakh government jobs within a year after formation of government in the state.

While increasing unemployment has become gave concern issue, both ruling BJP and opposition Congress have used 'Jobs Guarantee' or 'Jobs Promise' as poll tool in Assam to woo the unemployed youths ahead of the state Assembly polls.

Both BJP and Congress have made promise to the unemployed youths of Assam to give 1 lakh government jobs within a year after formation of government in the state.

The Congress party has undertaken five 'Guarantees' for the assembly election in the state and these are - a law that nullifies the CAA, 5 lakh government jobs, raising tea workers' wages to Rs 365, free electricity up to 200 units per household and Rs 2,000 monthly income support to all housewives and the party has launched 'Congressor 5 Guarantee' yatra in the state.

The opposition Congress has promised that after formation of government in state the party will give five lakh government jobs and 25 lakh jobs in the private sector, that's mean 1 lakh government jobs in each year.

AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh said if Congress is voted to power then they will give 5 lakh government jobs and 25 lakh jobs in private sector.

"The unemployed youths of the state will get 5 lakh government jobs and 25 lakh jobs in private sector and it is our guarantee. It has 50 percent reservation for women," Jitendra Singh said.

By countering the Congress's job guarantee scheme, BJP has also promised to give 1 lakh government jobs to the unemployed youths of the state by March 2022.

Assam Finance minister and BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma said after formation of government his party will give 1 lakh government jobs to the unemployed youths of the state by March 2022.

Addressing an election campaign rally in Behali constituency, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that - "We will give 1 lakh government jobs before March 2022."

"I am in the state politics for 20 years. Whatever I have said so far, I have followed every word. In keeping with that belief, today I am telling to the youths that we will arrange to give 1 lakh government jobs before March 2022. I am promising you that, we will give benefits to 2 lakh youths under SVAYEM scheme every year and a total of 10 lakh youths will get benefits. Apart from the government jobs, we will make employment opportunities for 8 lakh youths in different ways," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Apart from government jobs, both BJP and Congress have also promised to provide financial support to women of the state.

The assembly polls in the state will be held in three phases starting from March 27.
