Five nabbed in Sipitang for theft, drug abuse

SIPITANG: Five people, including a foreigner, were arrested separately for theft and drug abuse.District Police Chief, Champin Piuh said a suspect, a local man in his 40s, was nabbed at Jalan Samur Sindumin after 5.42gm of syabu was found in his possession.

The suspect was also found to be positive for AMP and methamphetamine after a urine test, he said, adding that the suspect was also found to have three previous convictions for drug-related offences.
Apart from that, police have also
detained two men at a scrap metal shop in Merintaman here last Thursday at around 10.30am for suspected copper cable theft.
Champin said during interrogation, both suspects admitted to stealing the cables at Kampung Marau Water Pump and Sipitang Telecommunication Tower.

Both of them, who were also found positive for AMP and methamphetamine, will be investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952.
Last Friday, at about 2pm, police arrested two men, including a foreigner, at a house in Kg Batu 1, Jalan Sindumin Sipitang, for suspected drug abuse.

Both suspects were found positive for AMP and methamphetamine and were investigated under Section 12 (2) ADB 1952.
