They promote anything and everything...
This tarnishes their brand.

you attach yourself, your brand, and your business to that company and that product...
and if that product isn't any good... that's also on the affiliate.
That's why the one question you should always ask yourself before promoting anything is:
"Can I trust the product to be good for my audience?"
Only this way, can you be a respectable affiliate marketer for the long term.
