Fresh off the release of his latest mixtape ColorsYoungBoy Never Broke Again may be taking some time off, and for good reason.

Since the start of 2020, the Baton Rogue rapper has dropped two official albums (Top and Sincerely, Kentrell), four commercial mixtapes (Still Flexin, Still Steppin38 Baby 2Until I Return, and Colors), two collaborative projects (Nobody Safe with Rich the Kid and From the Bayou with Birdman), and two compilation albums (Ain’t Too Long 2 and Never Broke Again: The Compilation Vol. 1).

According to producer Jason “Cheese” Goldberg, who worked extensively on Colors, YoungBoy will be taking a long-deserved break before he returns with his next full-length offering.

“PSA: A select few songs probably (maybe) will drop from now until then but Top will not be seen or heard from into his album approximately #6months from now,” Goldberg wrote on Instagram. “We have some amazing songs for you thank you for everything #HealingTime #RockPeace #ForeverBro.”

YoungBoy has been on a prolific run since he was released from jail in October under a strict home confinement order that includes a GPS monitor and 24/7 surveillance. While on house arrest in Utah, the 22-year-old scored his fourth No. 1 project, Sincerely, Kentrell, which in October knocked Drake’s Certified Lover Boy out of the top spot on the Billboard 200 with 137,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week.
