  • NOP Small Forward #5
Herb Jones posted 11 points, four rebounds, four assists, four steals, three blocks and a triple across 37 minutes in Thursday’s win over the Bucks.
“I’m a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom.” Did Sting write those lyrics from the iconic Ghost in the Machine album with a defensive wizard like Jones in mind? It’s quite possible, as the Alabama product’s work on defense has been masterful this season, and he’s haunted many opposing players throughout the campaign. When fantasy managers describe a “full stat line,” Thursday’s performance is exactly what they’re talking about. Jones did a little bit of everything in Thursday’s victory, and he finished with at least three blocks and three steals for the second time this season. Only Anthony Davis and Victor Wembanyama have more such games in 2023-24. Over his last nine, Jones has been a defensive monster, averaging 1.7 steals and 1.8 blocks. His huge defensive numbers have bolstered his otherwise unspectacular averages this season, and Jones is a top-70 fantasy hoops player on a per-game basis.
  • NOP Shooting Guard #3
CJ McCollum accumulated 25 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, a steal and three triples Thursday in a 107-100 win over the Bucks.
McCollum dropped 18 points in the first half to help New Orleans build a 61-45 lead going into the break. Zion Williamson scored the same number of points in the second half, as McCollum’s scoring quieted down quite a bit to end the game. Still, he provided his fourth straight game with at least 23 points. McCollum is averaging under 20 points per game for the first time since the 2014-15 season, but he’s taken on an expanded role as a scorer with Brandon Ingram out of action. In four games since Ingram headed to the sidelines with a left knee injury, McCollum has averaged a robust 25.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.5 triples, and his stellar play is a big reason why the team is 3-1 in that span.
  • MIL Shooting Guard #5
Malik Beasley ended Thursday’s loss to the Pelicans with 20 points, two rebounds, a block and six three-pointers across 33 minutes.
Beasley got off to a good start, scoring 12 points and hitting four three-pointers in the first half. Beasley has been a solid streamer for points and especially triples over the last three weeks, knocking down 3.7 triples across his last nine outings. He’s been awesome in those two categories, but Beasley rarely contributes anything meaningful in any other categories, making him a one-dimensional option and not a must-roster player in 12-team leagues.
  • MIL Power Forward #34
Giannis Antetokounmpo ended Thursday’s loss to New Orleans with 35 points, 14 rebounds and four assists across 39 minutes.
Giannis scored 12 points in the first half, but he came alive after the break with 23 to comfortably lead his team in the scoring department. In eight games leading up to this one, the Greek Freak averaged a superb 30.0 points, 13.4 rebounds and 7.6 assists, including a 29/21/11 triple-double in Tuesday’s 2OT loss to the Lakers. He was just as masterful Thursday, and despite the loss, Giannis put up his league-leading 33rd game with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds this season. The Bucks have lost two straight, and Giannis will look to guide them to victory on Saturday against the Hawks.
  • BOS Point Guard #9
Derrick White racked up 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, a steal and five three-pointers in 41 minutes Thursday in an OT loss to Atlanta.
White sat out Monday’s matchup with the Hawks, but he returned from a one-game absence to provide a stellar final line. In his first two matchups with Atlanta this season, White averaged a healthy 18/5/9/2 line with 2.5 triples, and he picked up right where he left off against a vulnerable Atlanta defense. Despite preseason worries that he might cede meaningful minutes and quality production to Jrue Holiday, White is enjoying the best statistical campaign of his career. He’s ranked 27th in per-game fantasy value and will surely finish the season as one of fantasy’s biggest draft-day values.
  • ATL Center #15
Clint Capela posted 12 points, 13 boards, three assists and two blocked shots in 33 minutes Thursday as the Hawks defeated the Celtics 123-122 in OT.
Capela extended his double-double streak to five games, and he needed only one half to get there, as he posted 10/10 through two quarters. Capela has now posted a double-double in 10 of his last 11, sporting averages of 13.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.5 swats in that span. The big man’s production has remained steady throughout the campaign, and he’s ranked just inside the top 100 in per-game fantasy value.
  • BOS Small Forward #0
Jayson Tatum provided 31 points, 13 rebounds, six dimes and two triples across 45 minutes in Thursday’s OT loss to the Hawks.
Tatum came into this one on a scoring binge, having scored at least 30 points in four of his last six with averages of 31.3 points and 3.7 triples in that span. He dropped 37 on Atlanta in Monday’s disastrous loss, and he came through with another full stat line in this one. Despite another big performance, Boston dropped a second straight to Atlanta. While it’s worth asking how motivated Boston was to win either of those games after clinching the Eastern Conference, poor late-game play has plagued the Celtics all season, so Thursday’s final score wasn’t totally shocking.
  • ATL Point Guard #5
Dejounte Murray finished Thursday’s OT win over Boston with 44 points on 18-of-44 FG, adding seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals, a block and six triples across 47 minutes.
Oh, mama, what an effort! Murray got off to a hot start in this one, leading all scorers with 19 first-half points. His stellar night was just beginning as Murray dropped 14 in the third and fourth quarters to finish regulation with 33. He scored every one of Atlanta’s OT points to finish with a new career-high in the scoring department. His biggest bucket of the night was a middy with one-tenth of a second left to give Atlanta a one-point victory. Volume was key for Murray, and his 44 shot attempts are the most by any player in a single game since Russell Westbrook jacked up 44 way back on October 28, 2016. This was Murray’s 14th 20-point effort through 18 games post-All-Star break. With Trae Young sidelined, Murray has shined as a scorer and a facilitator, averaging better than 25 points and nine dimes without his backcourt partner. Atlanta finishes out the week with a home game against Milwaukee, and Murray will look to stay productive in that one. He dropped 30 points in his last game against the Bucks back on December 2, and he looks like a man on a mission following back-to-back victories over first-place Boston.
  • MIN Shooting Guard #5
Anthony Edwards (low back spasms) and Rudy Gobert (left rib sprain) are questionable for Friday’s game against the Nuggets.
Edwards has not missed a game since March 4 and tends to play through ailments if possible. As for Gobert, he hasn’t missed any of Minnesota’s last three games despite a lingering rib issue. Nickeil Alexander-Walker (Edwards) and Naz Reid (Gobert) are the players most impacted by whether or not the Timberwolves’ usual starters are cleared to play.
  • SAC Power Forward #7
Sasha Vezenkov (right ankle sprain) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Mavericks.
Vezenkov has been sidelined since February 9 but could be closing in on a return. He has been considered questionable ahead of Sacramento’s last five games before being ruled out. That could happen again on Friday, but it would not significantly impact fantasy basketball. Starting forwards Harrison Barnes and Keegan Murray will continue to play most of the minutes.
