Naperville Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide at Apartment on Crab Apple Court

Naperville police responded about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 to a report of a domestic incident at an apartment complex in the block of 1300 block of Crab Apple Court in Naperville. Based on the information initially received, officers set up a perimeter around the residence and members from the Naperville Police Department Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams responded.




After multiple, unsuccessful attempts to contact the individuals involved, Naperville’s Special Response Team (SRT) entered the apartment, where they located a female victim, who had been shot. She was evacuated and transported to a local hospital, where she was confirmed as deceased. The team later located the body of a male suspect, who was identified as the victim’s ex-husband from Michigan. He was deceased in the apartment from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.




Residents in the immediate area were contacted by police and notified to stay inside their homes as this incident unfolded. Naperville Police Department is involved in an ongoing investigation, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department at 630-420-6665 and ask for the Investigations Division.
